International Downstream - Tech Vietnam 2016

Hanoi, Vietnam | November 22-23, 2016

Nov 22, 2016

Vietnam is aiming at becoming Asian’s manufacturing hub of refining and petrochemical products with plans to upgrade and build mega refining and petrochemical complex in Nghi Son, Dung Quat and Vung Tau. For foreign potential investors, there are enduring risks associated with land acquisition and regulatory approval as well as regional market over-supply. However, from where we had visited last year, the Vietnam government has strong incentives plan to attract downstream investment.

Currently, limited capacity leads to a reliance on imports for domestic conversion and end-product manufacturing. With refinery developments in the pipeline, Vietnam will be able to increase capacities, particularly for polypropylene and ethylene in the medium term.

Vietnam is one of the two locations in Southeast Asia (the other being Indonesia) where one is continually looking for petrochemical opportunities. Industry concerns has been raised that what will happen if all projects in Vietnam happened? And what if both Vietnam and Indonesia concurrently happened? Given the further thoughts, Will US polyethylene that reaching China and Southeast Asia impact on Vietnam project realisation potentials?

The 2nd International Downstream – Tech event is designed to address the above key and widely concerned issues and topics. Policy makers, refiners, petrochemical producers and technology suppliers are supposed to gather and share minds and knowledge in the coming November in Hanoi.

We are looking forward to meeting you in Hanoi!
