Committing to the Paris Agreement, India has announced a major transformation to electric vehicles by 2030. The Government has also initiated Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles (FAME) scheme which provides incentives for purchasing electric vehicles. India’s electric vehicle (EV) sales increased 37.5 per cent to 22,000 units during FY 2015-16. Government’s vision is to see six million electric and hybrid vehicles by 2020.
