Since 2023, the China-Australia trade landscape has transformed significantly. With the lifting of tariffs imposed since 2020, key Australian exports have re-entered the Chinese market.
Despite past challenges, China remained Australia’s largest trading partner, with two-way trade reaching US$316.5 billion in 2022-23, a 16% increase from the previous year. This growth is driven by strong economic interdependence, supporting mutually beneficial trade and offering lucrative investment opportunities for Australian businesses in China.
Looking ahead to 2024, China is implementing support and incentive measures to strengthen demand, boost economic growth, and create a favorable business environment. Investing in China offers access to a large, but sophisticated market that requires planning and a comprehensive pre-entry strategy. Therefore, to ensure sustained success, Australian investors must understand the evolving regulatory landscape.
Join Ines Liu, Senior Manager of International Business Advisory and Head of the Australian Desk, as she explores China-Australia trade relations, covering latest laws coming into effect this year, crucial for companies operating in or looking to enter China. Additionally, Ines will also highlight the priority sectors for Australian businesses in 2024.
The webinar will cover the following topics:
- Australia-China bilateral trade landscape: 2023 updates & latest progress
- Key Regulatory updates in 2024
- Essential sectors for Australian investors
