The ACBW 2015 Adelaide Luncheon will see the official launch of the 2014 Australia-China Trade Report by The Premier of South Australia, The Hon. Jay Weatherill MP.

Commissioned by the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) and supported by NAB, the 2014 Australia-China Trade Report breaks new ground by providing the first close analysis of the impact of bilateral trade between Australia and China on Australia’s business and economic integration with global value chains. It also extends the findings of previous reports by evaluating the latest flow-on effects of Australia-China trade for the Australian economy right down to the household level.

The Australia-China Business Survey and accompanying case studies confirm that the China market is providing new opportunities in industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, real estate, tourism, education and financial and professional services. Some of the main findings in the Australia-China Trade Report suggest that direct trade with China has contributed 5.5 percent to Australian GDP – double that of agriculture, forestry and fisheries combined. Additionally, nearly 200,000 Australian jobs are sustained by direct exports to China, with 1 in 58 Australian workplaces involved in direct exports to China.

Following the launch of the NAB-ACBC Australia-China Trade Report, the President of ACBC South Australia, Mr. Sean Keenihan will be hosting an expert panel discussion to expand on the main conclusions of the report. Leaders from the Australia-China business space including James Yang, Chief Representative of South Pacific of UnionPay International, will highlight the trends emerging in the Australia-China trade relationship, and the impact and benefits to SMEs in Australia.
